It is inflammation of the fibrous band of tissue (fascia) that connects the heel bone to the base of the toes.
What Causes Plantar Fasciitis?
- Overuse.
- Improper shoe wear.
- High-intense activity.
- Tight muscles.
- Long periods of standing.
Plantar Fasciitis Symptoms
- A burning, aching, or tingling sensation
- The sensation of an electric shock in the foot or feet
- Pain that gets worse during the night or specific activities
- Muscle weakness in the area
Treating Plantar Fasciitis
- Stretching regimens, rest, icing the affected foot or feet, bracing and night splints, corticosteroid injections
- Surgery in chronic cases
