About The Program

The Reconstructive Fellowship Program is a comprehensive 12-month post-residency training program designed for foot and ankle surgeons seeking advanced surgical experience in complex reconstructive procedures.

The program offers in-depth exposure to circular external fixation, total ankle replacement (TAR), Charcot reconstruction, pediatric pathology, and 3D custom implants. With an emphasis on decision-making, case management, and practice operations, our fellowship is ideal for those looking to gain real-world clinical confidence and board-certifiable case experience.

Program Details

Stipend

$85,000 per year; benefits provided

$2,000 CME

Benefits: The fellowship will provide its fellow with paid vacation time, sick time, medical education time, as well as malpractice with tail coverage.

The fellowship takes place in Fresno, CA, and Clovis, CA, at multiple offices, including 3 hospitals. 

Fellows are expected to manage patients pre-operatively, intra-operatively, and post-operatively.

The fellowship averages 350–500 cases annually.

Training includes practice management, with exposure to billing/coding, outpatient and inpatient rounding, and call responsibilities.

Fellows may collect cases toward ABFAS board certification and are encouraged to maintain ACFAS membership

Monthly research committee meetings

At least one publishable paper and a presentation at the ACFAS Annual Scientific Conference

Participation in journal clubs (both ACFAS-structured and monthly in-office with faculty)

Opportunities for case series, review papers, book chapters

Dedicated educational block time for research and academic presentations

Duration: 1 year (August 1, 2025 – July 31, 2026)

Elizabeth Pankow, DPM, AACFAS

We are proud to introduce our 2025 Reconstructive Foot & Ankle Surgery Fellow, Dr. Elizabeth Pankow. Dr. Pankow brings a strong passion for advanced foot and ankle reconstruction and is committed to providing excellent patient care while furthering her surgical expertise through our rigorous one-year training program. As our current fellow, she actively participates in complex cases, research efforts, and hands-on clinical care under the mentorship of our experienced faculty.

All DPM candidates must have completed 3 years of surgical residency training. A fellow is exposed to advanced techniques in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery and reconstruction including circular frames, TAR and allograft talar replacement. Additional training includes clinical decision-making, research/publication and practice management. This high-volume fellowship comes with high expectations, and lasts 12 months: August 1 to July 31.
